You can’t say everything was meant for a reason, because that goes against God’s Word.
God is pure and holy, so God can’t have anything to do with sin.
If you have sin in your life, you have to repent and turn from your sin.
The Bible says turn from your wicked ways.
If you continue to sin, you will reap the consequences of that.
God says “I have set before you life and death, therefore choose life.” (Deuteronomy 30:15-16, 19-20)
God is telling you to choose life. He is saying there are two ways you can go.
If God tells you to choose life, but you choose death, then everything can’t happen for a reason.
You are making bad choices. You are choosing to sin.
If you are choosing to sin, God can’t bless you.
Yes, God is a sovereign God. He can step in and say “I’m in control of everything.”
“I can heal your body.”
People ask God to heal their bodies, but they continue to smoke, drink, do drugs, eat unhealthy foods, not exercise, etc…
People can ask God a million times a day to heal their bodies, and God can step in and heal their bodies, but they continue to make bad choices.
The Bible says your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
But if you are not treating your body right, if you are not doing what God tells you to do, and you continue to walk in sin, then there is nothing that God can do for you.
There is no way that God can bless you.
You are disobeying God. There is no way God can bless you when you disobey Him.
You can’t say everything happens for a reason.
“Well, I’m sick.”
God didn’t make you sick.
If you say everything happens for a reason, then you are saying that God made you sick.
God made you sick for a reason. That is not right. That is unscriptural.
God’s Word says that He provided healing for us through the stripes of Jesus.
God doesn’t cause you to get sick.
You’re sick because the devil is throwing that on you.
You’re sick because “the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy,” not God, the thief does.
God doesn’t make you sick for a reason.
There’s not a reason you have cancer in your body.
The reason you have cancer in your body is because you continued to smoke or the devil has put that sickness on you.
Look at all the people in the world making bad decisions every second.
Look at all the people dying and going to hell.
It wasn’t meant for them to go to hell.
It wasn’t meant for a reason for them to go to hell.
There was a reason they went to hell, but it didn’t “happen for a reason.”
The Bible says that God is not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9).
God doesn’t want anyone to die and go to hell.
He is constantly reaching out to people saying “I am here, reach out to me, I can save you.”
The only reason someone would continue to sin and go to hell is because they are being foolish.
The Bible says the fool says in his heart there is no God (Psalm 14:1).
So, you are being foolish if you continually sit there and reject God.
You can’t say “well that was meant to be for that person to go to hell.”
That wasn’t meant to be for that person to go to hell.
The only reason that person went to hell is because they were being foolish.
There is a story of a man who prayed for God to save him during a flood. During the flood, two boats came by, then a helicopter. Each time, the man told those who were trying to rescue him that God was going to save him. The man eventually drowned.
God tried to save the guy. God sent two boats and a helicopter.
The guy didn’t die for a reason.
It was the guy’s own fault that he drowned.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights.” (James 1:17)
It’s the “thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy.” (john 10:10)
The devil prowls around seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8).
He sets up traps for you to fall in, but you don’t have to fall into them.
The Bible says “a man is drawn away and tempted by his own lusts.” (James 1:14)
Your lust isn’t there for a reason.
We are born into a sinful nature, but through Christ “old things have passed away, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
If you walk outside your house and step in dog poop, that’s your own fault.
If you say everything is meant for a reason, what you are really doing is passing the blame and responsibility.
You don’t want to take responsibility for your own actions.
If you say everything is meant for a reason, then you are leaving everything up to chance and “fate.”
If everything is meant for a reason, then why should you have to make choices?
If everything is meant for a reason, then the choices you make would be based on chance and fate and not on you.
If you make the wrong choice, then “it was meant to be.”
No. You made the wrong choice. It’s your fault.
You need to take responsibility for that.
Everybody has the power of choice, and you choose whether you are going to make a bad decision or not.
You can’t say “well my bad decision was meant to be.”
No. God has a perfect will (Romans 12:1-2), and you have the choice whether to walk in it or not.
God may have allowed that to happen, because He gives us the power of choice.
He lets us choose.
God may know beforehand that you are going to make a bad choice, but because His mercies are new every morning, He continues to reach out to you and give you a second chance to walk in His perfect will.
Whether you make the right choice or not, that is up to you.
Your bad choice wasn’t meant for a reason.
No. You just made a bad choice.
“Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21)
Romans 12:1-2 God has a perfect will for your life.
But you can choose to step out of that will.
Just like a path through the woods. That path is there to show you the way to go, but you can step off of that path. If you choose to step off of that path, there are thorns, rocks, holes, and wild animals that can harm you. But, it’s your choice whether you stay on that path or not.
